With a 25 year career in property, Nigel McKenna is one of the most experienced development managers in New Zealand. As Development Director of DASL Nigel has extensive understanding with leading large diverse teams and undertaken a wide variety of highly specialized projects. Nigel was responsible for the management of the master planning process for the Viaduct and undertook the role of Development Manager for Metropolis and the DFS Customhouse Galleria.
Nigel is a Chartered Surveyor and Founding Chairman for New Zealand of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. A former Ernst & Young Property Entrepreneur of the year, Nigel was a Director on the Auckland Council Property Board from 2008 to 2010.
He has received in excess of 20 individual awards from a range of organizations including the Institute of Architects and the Property Council for projects such as Dockside and Shed 5 in Wellington, Beaumont Quarter, North and Stratis at Lighter Quay in addition to The Quadrant Hotel to name but a few. These are testimony to his attention to detail and ability to achieve quality results within the framework of commercial budgets and programs.
Nigel has an extensive relationship with Council, from sitting on the Mayoral Urban Design Taskforce to now being a key strategic development advisor to Auckland Council Property Ltd (ACPL).
Focusing on developing a ‘Statement on Urbanism’ through engaging sector cohorts including urban designers, architects, planners, engineers, surveyors and landscape architects together with property development and construction the conference will take place on 14 – 15 May in Wellington.
